Our first big challenge was getting all of the "stuff" that we had in the car, loaded onto the bikes. Jerry had done a test load up at home, but somehow the stuff grew in size between Edmond and Denver. Here is what he had to get on the bikes:
It was such a beautiful day in Denver, that we all decided to not use any of our "long johns" or thermal under clothes. We then proceeded to ride directly into the Rocky Mountains. You can guess what happened. We were underdressed. Jerry and the boys said they have been that cold on a ride before, but just for a quick trip across Edmond. I, on the other hand, have never been that cold any time in my life. It was a challenging two hours to cross the mountains, but the scenery was so beautiful that it made it doable.
I posted all of today's pictures on Jerry's facebook page:
Colorado is so beautiful, but I didn't want to take off my gloves very often, so I didn't take as many pictures as I normally would have.
Southern Utah is a study in contrasts. We took one of my famous "shortcuts" to Moab. As you can see from this photo, we were all a little worried at first. The landscape was barren and then we came across an abandoned town.
It didn't take long though and it turned into a beautiful ride all of the rest of the way into Moab.

Funny thing about today's ride. We all have communicators so that we are able to talk to each other while we are on the road. I spent most of the day having issues with my headset. Jerry and the boys said that they didn't have anything to do with it, but I did see them with some wire cutters this morning at the hotel. They were whispering something about deciding whether to "cut the red or the green wire." Their evil plan backfired though, because I was able to talk to all of them, but was unable to hear anything that they said in return. Didn't stop me from talking! ha ha
We actually finally figured it out. My earpieces had slipped up to the top of my helmet and were no longer where my ears were. ha ha We will definitely have a better time communicating tomorrow.
