It is interesting how it has taken us awhile to get in a rhythm of spending time together. With Erin, Zach, and Josh all being adults, so much of their time is spent away from us, that a lot of our daily routine now is just Jerry and I. You have to really be purposeful about being "others oriented" when you are on vacation together or spending time together as a family, and we are having to relearn a little of that cohesiveness that we had as a family during all of those years home schooling when we spent practically every day together.
One way that this manifested itself today was during an afternoon rainstorm when we were holed up in our hotel room sharing the ONE television set.
Can you believe that Josh doesn't want to watch HGTV? There was a particularly riveting "house hunters" episode on, but we ended up watching a little bit of a more macho, motorcycle trip "appropriate" show. I wonder how my tv show tastes will change by the end of this trip . . . I have been told "No 'Dancing with the Stars' or any of your other "girl" shows."
I'm missing Erin right about now!
Hope that all of you get to spend some real quality time with your families this weekend.
